Small Schools - Big Future

Schools – Evaluation

A rigorous, independent, four-year evaluation of the project has been commissioned.

The overall objective of the evaluation is to inform policy decisions at national, local and school levels. The aims are:

  • to examine the human scale-related changes in policies, practices, structures, architecture, values and skills that are associated with the developments being supported by the grants
  • to analyse the impacts and effects of these changes within schools
  • to explore the various factors and reasons that may account for the evident impacts associated with the human scale-related developments

The team evaluating the project is led by John Harland, Director of LC Research and former Head of the Northern Office of the National Foundation for Educational Research.
